About the Tour
Discover North Macedonia's wild mountain landscapes and cultural charm on this 8-day hiking tour through Mavrovo, Galichica and Pelister National Parks. Hike near the borders with Albania and Greece, enjoy panoramic views, visit historic villages and experience local hospitality with certified local mountain guides.
This is a round trip through different regions and mountain areas in North Macedonia. Transfers between areas usually take from 20 minutes to 2 hours. Accommodation is in three-star hotels or comfortable guest houses.

Journey Day by Day
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Mavrovo
Arrival at Skopje Airport and transfer to Galichnik village in Mavrovo National Park. The drive takes around 1.5 hours. Overnight stay in a mountain hotel.
Day 2: Hike to Medenica Peak, 2,163 m
- Trail: Galichnik, 1,560 m, to Medenica Peak
- Distance: 10 km
- Duration: 4-5 hours
- Elevation gain: 603 m
After the hike, we drive to Ohrid with a stop at St. John the Baptist Monastery. Overnight stay in Ohrid.
Day 3: Jablanica Mountain and Crn Kamen, 2,257 m
- Trail: Border area between North Macedonia and Albania on Jablanica Mountain
- Distance: 12 km
- Duration: 5-6 hours
- Elevation gain: 837 m
We hike to Crn Kamen, also known as Black Stone, one of the most scenic viewpoints in the area. Return to the hotel in Ohrid.
Day 4: Rest Day in Ohrid
Enjoy a relaxed day in Ohrid. Optional activities include a boat trip, kayaking, an old town tour, swimming or lakefront dining.
Day 5: Magaro Peak, 2,255 m, Galichica National Park
- Trail: From 1,600 m to Magaro Peak
- Distance: 8.5 km
- Duration: 4-5 hours
- Elevation gain: 700 m
This hike offers panoramic views of Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa. After the hike, there is an optional swim in the lake.
Day 6: Vrteska Peak, 2,010 m, Pelister National Park
- Trail: Maloviste village, St. Ana Monastery and Vrteska Peak
- Distance: 12 km
- Duration: 4-5 hours
- Elevation gain: 870 m
Enjoy mountain views, traditional local food and a visit to Bitola's historic sites. Overnight stay in Bitola.
Day 7: Big Lake, 2,218 m, Pelister National Park
- Distance: 12 km
- Duration: 6-7 hours
- Elevation gain: 1,048 m
Hike to the alpine Big Lake in Pelister National Park and descend toward Nize Pole. Transfer to Skopje, around 2 hours. Overnight stay in Skopje.
Day 8: Departure
Transfer to Skopje Airport.
